Inter-Fraternity Council

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the structural, judicial, and governing body for all of the University of North Florida's general IFC fraternities (Alpha Tau Omega, Chi Phi, Delta Upsilon, Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Chi).  Two delegates represent every fraternity and regularly scheduled meetings are held every other Tuesday evening.  These meetings are a time for all fraternities to come together on a level playing field and discuss important fraternity issues.  The meetings are crucial in maintaining bonds of friendship and respect from organization to organization.

The Council establishes and coordinates educational programs, recruitment activities, facilitates Greek athletics (Greek League), implements scholarship programs, and promotes year round community service to UNF and the greater Jacksonville community.  The Council strives to create campus-wide camaraderie amongst all Greeks.  Finally, the Council encourages all of its members to be strong, positive leaders and role models in everything they do.

The IFC also runs formal recruitment for all IFC Fraternity chapters.  Spring recruitment (RUSH) will take place January 11-15.  For more information on IFC recruitment, please contact the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life at (904) 620-2526.  For more information on the chapters that make up the IFC, please visit the "chapter profile" section of the UNF Greeks main page or the check-out the pdf of the current Greek Book on the main page of this website.

Multi-Cultural Greek Council

The Multi-Cultural Greek Council (MGC) is the governing body for cultural and social/service-oriented Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities.  MGC is governed by the National Multi-Cultural Greek Council (NMGC).  MGC made a home at the University of North Florida when Gamma Eta Sorority Inc. was founded in 2002.

MGC created Greek liaisons for all councils at UNF and has an environment that administers networking opportunities for ideas, programs, and services between its constituent fraternities and sororities.  MGC also strives to promote diversity and to support the works of its member organizations and other Greek councils at UNF.  The council also serves to encourage multicultural awareness within the University and the community through programming endeavors.

Although MGC only has one member chapter currently, we will have a new fraternity (Sigma Lambda Beta) chapter in the very near future.  If you are interesting in being a brother of this new fraternity, please contact the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.

For more information about Gamma Eta Sorority, Inc. and Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity, Inc., please see the "chapter profile" section of the UNF Greeks main page or check-out the pdf of the current Greek Book on the main page of this website.

Panhellenic Council

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), founded in 1902, is an umbrella organization for 26 (inter)national women's sororities.  Each member group is autonomous as a social, Greek-letter society of college women and alumnae.  Members are represented on over 620 college and university campuses in the United States and Canada and in over 4,600 alumnae associations, making up over 3.6 million sorority women in the world.

The Panhellenic Council is a group of women elected into positions to govern the five (5) sororities (Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Zeta Tau Alpha) under the National Panhellenic Conference at the University of North Florida.  It is comprised of officers and directors from each organization, as well as delegates, who are all responsible for attending bi-weekly business meetings.  These meetings are a time for the Council to discuss topics such as recruitment, upcoming Greek functions, philanthropic events, and other general issues.  The meetings are also crucial in maintaining the bonds of Panhellenic sisterhood in promoting respect between all five sororities.

For more information on the individual chapters, please see the "chapter profile" section of the UNF Greeks main page or check-out the pdf of the current Greek Book on the main page of this website. For more information about recruitment, please see the "recruitment" section of the UNF Greeks main page and the Panhellenic Council main page.

Judicial Procedures of the NPC (Panhellenic Council) can be found in the Manual of Information or "Green Book," which can be accessed at: https://www.npcwomen.org/member-login.aspx

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) was founded in Washington, D.C. on the campus of Howard University; May 10, 1930.  Nationally, the NPHC is comprised of the nine Greek organizations, commonly referred as the "Divine Nine."

The purpose of the Council is to promote interaction among its affiliates.  By engaging in collective programming and ideas through a variety of functions and activities, the Council has a powerful impact on their communities.  Here at UNF, some of the past projects include: Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, NPHC Week, and Mentoring Project with students from Andrew Jackson High School, and our Community Step Show/Cook Out.

Currently, all nine (9) of the national NPHC chapters exist at UNF (Alpha Kappa Alpha, Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Iota Phi Theta, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, Sigma Gamma Rho, Zeta Phi Beta).  For information on these chapters, please see the "chapter profile" section of the UNF Greeks main page or check-out the pdf of the current Greek Book on the main page of this website.

*The National Pan-Hellenic Council does not hold Rush or Recruitment events.  For further information about joining any one of our Greek Letter Organizations, please contact the current president at nphc.unf@hotmail.com, or visit the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.

Greek Council

The Greek Council is the overall communicator and supporter of all the governing bodies for fraternities and sororities.  This includes the Interfraternity Council, Multi-Cultural Greek Council, Panhellenic Council, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council.  The Greek Council strives to unite the Greek Community in all aspects of the UNF community.  It is Greek Council's goal to let everyone know, "No Matter the Letters, We're all Greek Together."  The executive Council meets regularly and may call full membership meetings with advance notice.  The executive Council is made up of the president of each of the four governing councils, and one appointed Treasurer.  Throughout the year, multiple events keeps the Council busy; this ranges from the Spring Bash to Greek Week, to the Annual Greek Awards.  In addition, Greek Council is responsible for creating and publishing each annual edition of the Greek Book.

The 2007-2008 Greek Council was the recipient of the Craig Little Award at the Mid-American Greek Council Association Conference held in Chicago during the month of February.  The Little Award is presented to one council each year that has not participated in the MGCA Council Awards process in the previous four years and who are applying for at least one award.

The Greek Council offers a very exciting experience here at UNF to all who wish to reach higher within Fraternity & Sorority Life.  As the Greek system continues to grow, opportunities abound to serve and educate the general UNF student body on possibilities within Fraternity & Sorority Life.
